Poore: Rwanda

Poore: Rwanda is dedicated to providing help for the people in Rwanda who were devastated by the 1994 genocide. Justin Poore, a current NRL front-rower, became involved in the charity Hope Rwanda when he was given the opportunity, along with a few other NRL players, to travel to Rwanda in October 2008. Justin met survivors of the genocide, met widows and orphans and witnessed the devastation and poverty first hand. The reality was overwhelming.

On the field, Justin is doing his job by taking the team forward. Off the field he is doing a similar thing. Justin is heading up Poore: Rwanda as a way of creating awareness and raise much needed funds to continue in his aid effort and allow the people of Rwanda to move forward.

While Rwanda is moving forward from this dark moment of history, its people still carry the physical, emotional and spiritual scars of being forgotten in their most desperate time of need. The world may have turned its back in the past, but the opportunity to restore hope and dignity to the survivors, the community and the country is present.

We are hoping to raise $50,000 to build 5 homes for people in need. Currently we have raised $33,385 but with your help we can raise more!
